Kid’s Sunday.

Today we’re off to Redditch to take the kids (and Mum in Law) to this.

Should be a giggle.

I’m getting Sunday Dinner sorted soon. Chicken done in a chicken brick today.

It makes a lovely gravy (sauce) as well as keeps the chicken very moist. The best bit is that you can bung everything in it, chuck the oven on low and then bugger off all day and you come back to a fabulous meal without having to do anything but serve it. Plus the smell when you open the front door is ace!
Lazy man’s cooking. Works for me!

Finally, finishing off on a sad note, just read this on Bikeradar. I know the roads around there very well, indeed I’ll be pedalling them next Saturday if everything goes according to plan. The A46 especially is a like a motorway in all but name. A dual carriageway where the traffic regularly goes over the national speed limit. The lanes around Bidford and Salford Priors are very narrow but can get very busy due to all of the pretty villages and access to the River Avon. My thoughts and condolences go out to her family and friends.

Everyone be careful out there.

  1. Never seen one of those chicken bricks before. It looks like a huge breast with a big nipple :)Re the accident, maybe the clubs decision to hold the race on that road needs to be discussed by them, but my feelings are that the more cars have become safer with more airbags, more strengthened cages, etc, the more some drivers seem to consider themselves less vulnerable and so take less care. The more expensive the car = the "safer" the occupant = the more agressive they drive. At least for some drivers. They dont consider the outcome for others. Its sad news, made sadder by the fact that it wont change anything.

  2. Cool….I've never seen a chicken brick before. Leave it to you Brits to have all the gadgets. It always seems like you and your family are up to some good times together…..I love it.Darryl

  3. I've never seen a cooking rig like that. Though it seems similar to the popular "Crock Pot" in our neck of the woods (a ceramic pot that sits in it's own electric heater), great for stews and slowly steaming meats. Can you figure out how to post that aroma you referred to?Accidents like that are horrific. We've had two similar incidents in our area in the last few months, one near Baltimore, and one in Gaithersburg. In another incident last fall the biker lived but is still recovering from tough injuries and driver left the scene. That case is still unresolved.Everyone stay safe out there.

  4. Chicken Bricks are an old thing here, a pretty traditional way of doing things. We got our chicken brick here: http://www.wenlockpottery.gbr.cc/1290/frames.phpThey're about as low tech as you can get, dunno about calling them a gadget Darryl!Mike, if ever you're in England stop by and sample the aroma yourself!

  5. Chicken Brick was they not the pre cursor to theElectric slow cooker. As for the tragedy very sad my sympathy to her freinds and family, but I do question the logic of holding a time trial on a very busy road, Echo what you say Clive everyone be careful out there, as you and I both no how these things can happen, thankfully we both got through our incidents.

  6. I think you'll have to persuade us all how good the chicken brick is. When can I come round and try it Clive?
